ArtPrize 2011, International Juried Competition International Solo Exhibition in Lodon and Copenhagen, 2011 My current creative research involves comparing and contrasting Western and Eastern Art. I am closely examining works of art within specific cultural contexts with consideration given to the political, social, economic and religious spheres. This is being accomplished by my traveling to numerous museums and galleries around the world over the past 20 years. I have plans to further my study in order to fulfill the professional artist-teacher requirements, qualifications. | Art form: 2-D, 3-D
Medium: Watercolor Year created: 2011 Description of work: Ceiling to Wall Installation of Watercolor Paintings in 2D and 3D. InSoon Felch's work encapsulates the organic associated with painting, allowing the pieces to convey an emotional message. Install 2D and 3D watercolor paintings, 30 pieces of a 6” circle series and 12 pieces of a sphere that was installed on the ceiling. The circle itself brings up a unique image that represents the success of the exhibitions in May 2011 in London and Copenhagen. Artist bio InSoon Felch, originally born in South Korea, has shown her work internationally. She received her M.F.A. at Western Michigan University in 2000. Her recent works are incorporating sculptural forms into many of her paintings. Introducing sculptural elements to the works transforms not only the outer appearance of the pieces, but also the fundamental structure of her shaped-canvas paintings. InSoon’s installations are often suspended from the ceiling and incorporate such materials as metal, canvas, paper, fabric and sawdust. Although primarily non-objective and non-representational, she considers her work to be an intensely subjective response to the various aspects of the painterly reality around her: lines, colors, figures, and shapes. InSoon has been traveling to museums and galleries around the world for nearly 20 years. Recently she has exhibited her works in France, the United Kingdom and Denmark. She is scheduled for a solo exhibition in Singapore 2012. |
